Quick Overview

The 2014 BMW X5 is completely new, but does not look that much different from the old X5, with sharper edges and new front end, it is distinctive but not too flashy. Since its launch 13 years ago, it became an instant success. The X5 still has the supreme ride and handling that would shame most sports cars in a big and very luxurious SUV. Its rivals include the Audi Q7, Mercedes ML and Porsche Cayenne.

The 2014 X5 has a completely new chassis that saves weight, improves handling while being a little bigger than the old X5. It is not one of the best looking SUVs around, with its more angular and sharper edges, it isn't a ground breaking design and it still looks very similar to the old car. Where the X5 really stands out is in its performance, probably one of the best handling SUVs on the market. It manages to shift its weight without any hesitation and feels very comfortable when doing so, it is an engaging drive that builds confidence all while having a very nice ride. A choice of two engines are available, a 3.0 Litre inline 6 Turbo that produces 306 HP and a big brawny 4.4 Litre V8 Turbo that produces an astonishing 450 HP, both come with an 8 Speed Automatic that transfers the power effortlessly to all four wheels. Spec the M-Sport package and the X5 looks mean and butch, coupled with even better handling.

The interior is a very nice place to be in, soft touch materials everywhere, a design that is logical and modern and feels very luxurious. You feel pampered in the X5, with so many gadgets and technology everywhere, it really spoils its occupants to make sure they enjoy the ride. The 2014 X5 is still one of the best luxury SUVs on the market; it still has the BMW essence and prestige that comes with it.
