Quick Review

We like the 2013 Chevrolet Trailblazer for one main reason; it is a balanced 7 seater SUV which serves family comfort as well as dune bashing fun. A lot of SUVs compromise on one to suit the other. This one balances both.

The exterior styling is also not boxy and has some fluidity in design which is appealing. On the drive side, it produces 236 HP and features a V6 engine which provides sufficient power on-road and off-road.

While on-road it is a comfortable cruiser though it lacks certain features, such as Blind Spot Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control. These features are available in rival SUV's such as Ford Explorer and Dodge Durango. Also, the radio and sound system are not best in class, the aforementioned rivals will provide better quality in that department.

On off-road experience, it comfortably cruises the dunes. One reason for that is it has a separate transfer case which is a separate set of gears for off-roading. If you want to go dune bashing, one way to evaluate the strength of an SUV is by looking at it's gears. Having a separate set of gears means the SUV is quite capable for desert cruises.

When it comes to interior, the seats and cabin are quite family friendly and comfortable. There is adequate legroom, particularly in the 3rd row where most SUV's have cramped leg room. The boot on the other hand has minimal room if all seats are upright. To get any real boot space, the third row must be folded.

All in all, it's a competitive contender in the 7 seater SUV segment. For most people, this will do the job both on-road as well as off-road.
