Quick Review

The 2013 Ford Escape has no major changes from last year’s version. The reason? Ford will be introducing the third-generation Escape next year with a complete makeover, including changes to the design and the mechanical bits.

The 2013 Escape is available in the basic XLS model and the superior XLT model. The Escape uses Ford’s Duratec 2.5L engine and has 66-liter fuel tank. The Escape’s fuel economy is very respectable for a car of its size using 11.3 liters per 100km.

The Ford Escape compares favorably with its competitors. It performs competitively with Mazda's CX-5 and Hyundai Tucson. Another erstwhile competitor is the Honda CR-V. A compact SUV, the Honda CR-V is slightly larger than the Escape and has an engine comparable to the Escape’s Duratec, which produces 171 HP and 232Nm of torque, an option worth investigating.

For passengers travelling in the Escape, it’s a pleasant experience with a range of high-tech entertainment facilities provided; the interior is stylish and very comfortable. Drivers may be frustrated with the Escape’s handling which is not as responsive as its newer crossover competitors. Driving the Escape is a good experience, but it is not class leading. This car will be enjoyed more by the passengers than by the driver; ideal then for ferrying your family around suburbia, especially when you consider the competitive price.
