Quick Review

The 2012 version of the MINI Countryman is not hugely different from earlier models, but there are a few changes that make it a better driving experience.

For starters, it now comes with the option of a rear bench seat, which means you can fit up to five passengers instead of four – very handy! It also has built in technologies to benefit the driver, including parking distance control and satellite navigation. If you like listening to music on the road, you’ll love its new Harman/Kardon sound system.

Compared to some of the other small cars on the market like the Volkswagen Golf, Ford Focus and Nissan Qashqai, the MINI Countryman is really fun to drive. It offers the iconic look of the MINI brand in a four door option that is really convenient to use. It handles well and feels quick and compact, especially the all-wheel drive Countryman Sport version. With around 42 kilometres to the gallon in urban areas and 56 on faster roads, it certainly offers a good fuel economy an average of 6.0 L / 100 Km, it cannot be denied that the Countryman offers fantastic fuel economy.

Of course the MINI Countryman is not really a family car, but if you’re looking for a little 'run around' that can still cope with the demands of family life – picking the kids up from school, carrying the shopping etc – then the Countryman is definitely the best MINI model to choose. It’s also very good if you live in a built up area with poor parking facilities. It isn’t a whole lot more expensive than the MINI Clubman and could be worth paying the difference if you want something that’s fun to drive but is also practical.
