GMC Yukon

Following the launch of the Chevrolet Tahoe and Cadillac Escalade, General Motors completed the trio by launching the all-new GMC Yukon at the swanky La Ville Hotel in Dubai’s City Walk. Socially distanced and responsibly carried out, the Middle East launch saw a wave of journalists, influencers, and bloggers drive out the 2021 Yukon to Sharjah’s Al Faya Retreat and also test out its off-road capabilities in a wadi nearby.

“We are extremely proud to present to our loyal customers in the Middle East the next generation of our flagship SUV – the all-new 2021 Yukon. Not only is it more practical, thanks to increased cabin space, but it is packed with a range of premium features and technologies that we know our customers will love. Despite its modern convenience features, the 2021 Yukon retains its indomitable off-road credentials. Designed all-new from the ground up, we are confident the all-new Yukon range will exceed customer expectations and continue to dominate the roads like never before,” said Luay Al Shurafa, President and Managing Director, General Motors, Africa and the Middle East.

From the outside, the all-new GMC Yukon is longer, taller, wider, and just a whole lot more prominent. There are bold distinctive lines all across the bodywork and it does look far more luxurious. Everything from the Daytime Running Lights to the headlights, fog lamps, and tail lights are all LEDs, with plenty of chrome embellishing the bodywork on most trims, bar the off-road dedicated AT4.

Inside, GM has taken customer feedback quite seriously and so the Denali has been made to look and feel far more special than other trims. The Denali can almost pass off as a completely different car with a different interior layout, different quality of leather, and not to forget exclusive features as well. For long road trips, the all-new Yukon also welcomes a center console fridge with its own dedicated compressor that runs independent to the A/C system, can go down to -5 Celsius and is large enough to fit six 500ML bottles.

When it comes to power, the all-new 2021 Yukon offers drivers a choice of two engines to meet the requirements of differing lifestyles. The most powerful engine is an all-new 6.2L V8 with Dynamic Fuel Management that is standard on the Denali and delivers an estimated 420 horsepower. The other engine that is available on other trims is a 5.3-liter V8 that produces 355 horsepower. Both engines feature stop/start technology and new Dynamic Fuel Management that enables the engine to operate on two to eight cylinders, to optimize power and efficiency.

Breaking new grounds, for the first-time ever GMC has built a Yukon dedicated to off-road enthusiasts, the Yukon AT4. The AT4 melds a luxury driving experience and unrivaled off-road prowess, and is recognizable through its unique styling, including a different bumper and grille, as well as the bright red tow hooks that stick out upfront.

On the technology front, the GMC Yukon is available with up to nine camera views, the most in the segment. These include cameras pointed to the wheels so that you can avoid scuffing them on pavement or scratching them when off-road. There is also a camera integrated into the rearview mirror that helps immensely when the car is full of occupants or cargo and obstructs the view of the rear.

Naturally, being a family vehicle first and foremost the all-new 2021 Yukon offers a range of enhanced connectivity and active safety technologies and can warn drivers of an impending collision, and in some cases, even avoid them. These include Rear Pedestrian Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and more.

However, the all-new Yukon is armed with something far more special, OnStar3. With safety features such as the Automatic Crash Response - the all-new Yukon can call for help even when the driver is unable to and OnStar Advisors will be on the line simultaneously working with emergency services to ensure the right help is on the way. Whereas with the Stolen Vehicle Assist option – working alongside authorities, OnStar will help drivers retrieve their stolen Yukon by bringing the vehicle to an idle speed, and with a remote ignition block signal, the engine can be prevented from turning back on again.
