Jaguar Land Rover developing a self learning car

It's about time a car learns the driving patterns of a driver, innit? Artificial Intelligence has been employed in many areas of technology and now Jaguar Land Rover has developed an algorithm that learns and recognizes who is in the car and learns their preferences and driving style. This system then helps predict driver behavior in various situations thus allowing the driver to concentrate on the road in a better way. In other words, JLR aims to present each individual driver with a complete personalized experience. The details of the system are as follows:

- The car recognizes the driver via their smartphone and using memory function, the seats, mirrors and steering wheel will be adjusted as per the individual’s preferences. Moreover, the desired temperature will be set beforehand – with the possibility of changing during snow or rain.

- The car will use ‘Smart Assistant’ to track the daily routes and pre-set the navigation routes with the minimum traffic congestion. It will also predict the next destination based on the individual’s schedule.

- The car will suggest the fuel station belonging to the brand preferred by the driver. Also, the car will inform the driver whether the fuel is enough for long journeys – a day before travel.

- The car will predict the contact name the individual is likely to call in a certain situation.

- The car recognizes the different passengers and will activate their preferred infotainment settings.

- The car will send updates and/or alerts to people informing them about the individual’s late arrival based on traffic situations.

- The car will also learn an individual’s driving style in various situations and/or roads and will apply those preferences when the Auto Adaptive Cruise Control is turned on.

This is a state-of-the-art system and very close to achieving the autonomous vehicle status.
