Aston Martin has revealed an eye watering expensive watch in collaboration with luxury watchmaker Girard Perregaux. Exactly how expensive it is, we here you ask - $23,615. This means that it is more expensive than a Suzuki Jimny. And both are green, though they bear different shades of the colour.
The green hue colour of the Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin Edition (yup, that’s how long the name is) bears great significance as the colour has been synonymous with Aston Martin for a number of years. It took the watchmaker 18 months to replicate the colour onto the watch with lightweight materials like zirconium oxide and metallic oxides combined to produce the perfect green tint.
The watch echoes the lightweight construction seen in Astons cars with its skeletonised ‘baton’ type hour and minute hands. The diamond like design of the dial is similar to the one found on the Aston Martin logo from 1921 to 1926.
The Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin Edition is available in two case sizes, 42mm and 38mm, and is limited to 388 and 188 pieces, respectively.
Patrick Pruniaux, CEO of Girard-Perregaux, said: “From the outset, the design of the Laureato was distinctive, yet cohesive. Its styling encompassed geometric, clean-cut lines while exhibiting a slightly gentle character. Contrasting polished and satin finished surfaces, an ergonomic integrated bracelet and, of course, as always, an in-house movement. These are the essential ingredients which have made the Laureato a remarkable success. The same ingredients are much in evidence with the new Laureato Green Ceramic Aston Martin Edition, along with the addition of an interesting, highly contemporary material.”
