Quick Overview

The BMW X6 combines bold styling of a sport coupe with an all wheel drive ability of an SUV. With its “love it or hate it” looks, the X6 definitely stands out from the crowd. While it does not really have a direct competitor, it battles with more conventional SUVs such as the Audi Q7, Mercedes ML and the Porsche Cayenne.

2014 marks the final production year of the BMW X6, with an all new 2015 model arriving in late quarters of 2014. Based on the same stiff chassis as the BMW X5, it inherits a superb ride coupled with proper BMW handling. The BMW X6 was never really praised for its design. Some found it interesting and others found it weird. Despite its size, the X6 is a fairly small SUV. The backseats can be a little cramped and the boot offers a little bit more space than a midsize sedan, thus not exactly offering the practicality of a more conventional SUV. Powered by a choice of two super smooth engines, a 3.0 litre turbocharged inline V6 with 306 HP or a twin turbocharged 4.4 litre V8 with 450 HP. Both these engines make quick work of road traffic.

The X6 has a typical BMW interior, conventional yet very luxurious, with soft touch materials and high quality leather everywhere. It's very elegant but remains subtle to the eye. Being a BMW, safety standards are quite high. There are lots of technology features to keep occupants safe. The standard X6 has decent levels of equipment, like automatic climate control, push-button ignition, front and rear parking sensors and a 10-speaker audio system. However the X6 does lack a number of standard gadgets and toys for a car of this price, all are available as optional extras for increased customization (and prices).
