Quick Review

The 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee remains one of the most beautiful big beasts in the medium sized SUV bracket.  This premium SUV comes with a powerful V6 and V8 engines and five speed automatic transmissions.  The basic model comes with Quadra-Trac II four wheel drive, while an upgrade will get you Quadra-Drive II.

This car means real business with a wading depth of 508mm which will see you safely across most waterlogged tracks.  Strong competitors include the Land Rover LR2 and Mitsubishi Pajero 3.8L which are also competitively priced.

If you’re going to be towing a trailer or caravan, then the Grand Cherokee has a train weight of 750kg for unbraked trailers or 3,500kg for those with brakes.  For safety’s sake, the Cherokee is complete with sway damping to keep you and your payload on the road.

A major improvement on earlier models is the interior decor; this now has a much more luxurious feel, but be prepared to pay for the extras.  Cargo volume is seriously impressive and you can put away 93 litres of luggage even with all the seats up.  Take them down and it almost doubles the available space.

On the safety front, the Grand Cherokee is a good pick and performs well in all crash and strength tests.  It has a rage of safety features fitted as standard, including cruise control, forward collision warnings, assisted parking and a wide array of air bags.  Jeep have taken serious steps to stop anyone stealing your items and all models have remote and keyless entry systems.
