Quick Review

The all new Toyota Yaris was in desperate need of an update. The new model is an improvement on previous ones, but is still facing heat from competitors.

The 2012 Toyota Yaris has been fully redesigned from previous years. It’s larger, with better suspension tuning and has had an overall facelift. The Yaris offers plenty of interior space, but the quality is basic with some plastics. Boot space is decent, but not class leading.

In terms of driving, the Yaris handles well enough to take you around the city comfortably. It’s by no means a class leader in driving but then a Yaris fan will be adequately satisfied.

The engines on offer are all refined enough for every day driving. Competitors like Chevrolet Sonic and Kia Rio offer tough competition here. The Hyundai Accent too, offers good engines and more cargo space.

However, the Yaris remains a solid choice as a small city car or family run-around, as a reliable all round performer.
