Quick Overview

The 2014 VW Passat is a new entrant to the daily driving sedan segment in Middle East. It's more expensive than its Japanese rivals but cheaper than its German brethren. However it does not have the same prestige as the Germans, but offers a true, honest car with solid underpinnings. Its rivals include the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Chevrolet Malibu and Hyundai Sonata.

The 2014 Volksagen Passat comes to one the toughest segments on the market, but the restrained styling and somewhat pricey numbers make it hard for the Passat. It does not look imposing or special but flat, however it makes up for it in solid build quality. The Passat is also one of the softer, more sensible cars on the market; the plush and smooth ride does not like adventurous driving.  Available in 4 trim versions each sporting a different body style, the base S model is rather bland but the higher trims and engine sizes are much better.

The 2014 Passat makes up for its restrained styling by having one of the largest cabins in its segment. Couple that with a simple but good looking interior, it feels nice and the materials used are durable. The rear seats are very large and provide good level of comfort. Standard equipment is decent with the base model equipped with; a 6 speaker stereo, Bluetooth, Cruise Control and 6 airbags. It's good value for money but seems stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea.
