Selling my 2016 Honda Pilot EX, USA spec, FWD, 8-seater, with approximately 321,000 km.
This has been our family car for the past 3.5 years. I originally bought it with the intention of keeping it long-term, and during my ownership I have spent approx. AED 35,000 on maintenance and repairs as I wanted to keep the car in good mechanical condition and keep it long term.
One of the biggest risks when buying an older used car is unexpected repair costs. A significant amount of the major maintenance and repairs have already been taken care of during my ownership.
Major maintenance & repairs
* Radiator replaced recently
* Engine mounts replaced ( still under warranty from the shop, receipt available )
* Alternator replaced
* Engine and transmission oil leaks repaired
* Cooling fans replaced
* Suspension work completed
* Wheel bearings replaced
* Axles replaced
* Spark plugs, ignition coils and fuel injectors serviced/replaced
* Water pump, gasket and belt replaced
* AC compressor replaced approximately 3 years ago
* Transmission fluid flushed twice in the last 3 years
* New battery installed
The engine and transmission are running well, and the vehicle has been maintained throughout my ownership.
Being completely honest
This is a 10-year-old, high-mileage vehicle, so it is not a perfect car and I don’t want to hide that from the buyer.
There are still a few things that could be attended to but not urgent and I find it optional:
* Check engine light has been present since I purchased the vehicle, but have not encountered any issues.
* Minor front suspension noise
* Hood paint has faded, fog light not working, front grille need to replace.
These are already reflected in the asking price. I am not claiming the car is perfect. With its age, still efficient for its age and size.
Hard for me to let this car go after putting approximately AED 35,000 into it. I maintained it with the intention of keeping it for many more years.
However, after our recent relocation, the Pilot is mostly parked. Rather than leaving it unused, I feel it may be more useful to a family who genuinely needs a spacious and comfortable 8-seater.
I may actually choose to keep the car rather than sell it at a price that doesn’t reflect the money and effort I have already invested in it. But if it can benefit the right family, I am willing to let it go.
Asking price: AED 19,000
Straightforward and transparent sale — no hidden issues.Read more
