Quick Overview

The 2014 Lexus IS has been redesigned to look futuristic, unique and very modern, with sharp lines, an imposing grille, and aggressive stance; it makes for one of the most creative designs on the market. It competes with the Mercedes C-Class, Audi A4 and the current benchmark, the BMW 3 Series.

The Lexus IS comes with the same engines as before, a 2.5 Litre V6 and a 3.5 Litre V6 mated to a 6 Speed and 8 Speed transmission respectively, the latter is the engine of choice, efficient and smooth developing 312 HP and 375 NM of torque which makes the IS a quick car. Based on the bigger Lexus GS, it now has class leading handling and ride, making the car very stable while feeling light and agile around corners while still retaining the supreme Lexus ride and comfort. Those who want an even sportier balance and looks should opt for the F-Sport packages, which add revised suspension, bigger rims and more aggressive looks.

The IS has one of the best interiors, a mix of modern and classic which blends to create a classy, luxurious interior. The dashboard has been modelled off the Lexus LFA supercar for an even more dramatic and unique layout. Standard cars get an excellent entertainment system and one the most refined sound systems around. The Lexus IS has raised the bar significantly and its German rivals should be aware of its potential.
