A move to ensure safety of cruise control systems in UAE

Because of the many cruise control systems failures, on Sunday, a senior offical said that the Consumer Protection Department will submit proposals to ensure the safety of the cruise control systems.

Dr Hashim Al Nuaimi, director of the Consumer Protection Department at the Ministry of Economy, said that the Ministry of Economy’s move includes a new standard for the cruise control systems, and they will be visiting car factories and will be making education campaigns for drivers and much more.

Al Nuaimi said that the Ministry of Economy ordered 176 recalls over the last 18 months of which 80% involved car repairs.

He also noted that they will be visiting leading car factories to stay updated on the latest developments for the cruise control systems and what safety features should be the new standard for this very important device.
